City of Goiás (Vila Boa)

It's the old capital of Goías. Cora Coralina the most important poet in Goiás was born in City of Goiás. The History about this city is very interesting.
In 1727, Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva "O Anhangüera" arrived with other exploiters in the Center East of Brazil, then Vila Boa of Goiás (before Sant' Anna) was founded.
However, in the 19th century with the end of the gold exploitation, City of Goiás had its population reduced by half. But Goiás didn't die, as you might have thought.
The City grew and developed from its turism and culture. So, in 2001, it wuas recognize to UNESCO as a Historial National Heritaye site.
There are many beautiful places in go as such as baroque churchs, houses, squares, museums, and so on. When you visit City of Goiás you must get to know these places: Matriz Church, Boa Morte Museum, Rosário's Church, São Joaquim theater, São Francisco Church, Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church and specialy Cora's House; where the poet wrote about her city (with its alleys and windows - is the most famous windows in Brazil), her life and her emotions.
You must also visit City of Goiás in turistic season. Every year, people who live there promote many festivals, such as, FICA (Festival Internacional de Cinema e Video Ambiental), and religious events, like: Fogaréu Procession.
I think Vila Boa of Goiás is as beautiful as Goiânia and you'll love this city s I Love it.
